First let me start by saying that before I started the Keto diet I was staunchly opposed to using anything but real sugar (or maple syrup or honey) in my recipes. I am picky and a purist. So when I started replacing my sugar with low carb alternatives there was a learning curve to say the least, and a few missteps along the way.

This Brown Sugar Replacement by Swerve is my go-to sugar replacement for brown sugar. It does not have an aftertaste like some of the other sweeteners have. It is a 1-1 replacement for sugar, meaning it measures the same. The best part though? No calories and no carbs!

As I said above, I had some reservations about switching to sugar alternatives. In the beginning of my Keto journey I went without sweeteners for a while and just did without the taste of sweet. But little by little I started branching out in my cooking and eating and experimenting with baking and learning how to alter recipes to make them Keto-friendly. Out of all the sweeteners that I have tried this is what has become my personal choice for a brown sugar replacement. I use it in almost all recipes calling for brown sugar and have it in my breakfast almost every morning.
